Why you should go on a Bali Yoga Retreat

Anyone who is into yoga knows Bali is the place to be! This small island province is

considered by many to be the yoga capital of the world. Some of the world’s best yoga retreats

can be found in this tropical paradise of coral reefs and ancient temples. Yoga retreats are like

intensified yoga vacations. They are not for the casual practitioner – whether a beginner’s event

or a more advanced schedule, you will do lots of yoga on a retreat, two or three times a day!

Retreats amplify the usual benefits of yoga while providing benefits that only immersing yourself

in yoga for a week or a month can do!

Personal Attention

At a retreat in Bali, a practitioner can perfect her yoga skills with one-on- one attention

from some of the world’s best yogis. Classes, and even entire retreats, are usually limited in

number. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and meditative, because you’re on vacation,

and there is nothing pressing to do – no chores to do, no meetings to rush to, no kids to pick up

from school. This gives you plenty of time with instructors, allowing you to get personalized

attention and advice.

Deep Relaxation

Since there are no stressful distractions, many yogis who go on retreat to Bali find

themselves much more relaxed when they return. The atmosphere is laid back and positive,

and the people you are with will be interested in yoga and mindful spirituality too! With no

deadlines hanging over your head or errands to run, you have nothing left to do but be in the

moment. Yoga provides relaxation benefits for the body as well as for the mind. You will

certainly have some one-on- one time with yourself in meditation classes or other activities,

allowing you to detox from the stresses of normal life. Some retreat locations even provide all

your meals, so you don’t even have to worry about what’s for dinner, or who will clean it up!

Taking Time Out For You

How often do you smile or compliment yourself when you look in the mirror? Few

people really do, and even fewer take time out for themselves, to relax or even just slow down.

We live in a world that values multitasking, even though psychology has proven that

multitasking only makes us less efficient. Going to Bali for a yoga retreat puts you in an

environment where slowing down comes naturally. This includes taking a vacation from your

mobile devices, too – taking time off from work deadlines and cutting down on social media

reduces stress associated with the expectation of notifications. At a yoga retreat, there is plenty

of time to look inward and refresh your mindfulness, which in turn refreshes your body and

emotions. The peaceful environment of Bali provides an atmosphere that accomplishes this.

Benefits You Take Home With You

After the retreat is over, the things you learned at it stays with you. Every tip on how to

do a pose correctly, every meditative epiphany, every instruction from knowledgeable peers, all

become tools in your kit of yoga techniques. On other vacations, you might bring home some

cheap souvenirs, but on a yoga retreat, you leave with something far more valuable. The top

benefits of a yoga retreat in the tropical paradise of Bali can be appreciated in how you feel in

the weeks and months afterward, and how much of what you learned at the retreat you find

yourself integrating into your own practice.

A Bali yoga retreat makes a different kind of vacation – it gives yogis a vacation where

they are doing what they love in a relaxing atmosphere. There are retreats in Bali for almost

every budget and skill level, so finding a yoga retreat that’s right for you is just a matter of

searching. So find a retreat that calls to you, and spend your vacation in yoga bliss!

  • How close are you to the beach

    • Hi Janet

We are in a very strategic location close to the big tourist areas, but set in a peaceful seaside village in what is referred to as “Real Bali” or “Old Bali” away from the congestion, noise, crowds and pollution of the tourist areas. We are just 40 mins from the airport, 20 to Ubud and 15 to Sanur, plus were right by the beach. Here is more on our location and its numerous benefits…https://development.balifloatingleaf.com/our-location/
Plus, Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat is strategically located in a micro-climate that experiences almost constant lovely breezes. We had studied the weather patterns here for 5 years prior to building so we could make the most of passive cooling. The best part is, thanks to this wonderful consistent breeze we do not experience the intense heat and humidity that most of Bali suffers through. In addition, we have virtually no mosquitos here compared to Ubud and other tourist towns. We get about half as much rain as Ubud as well.
The beach nearest us is named Pantai Purnama which means ‘full moon beach’ as the moon is particularly large and bright here. The beach is 2 minutes away or a nice 15 minute walk down a beautiful rice field road. There is a Balinese temple on the way known for its “Taksu” or strong spiritual power. There is also a shrine on the beach. Huge processions pass by Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat weekly to have ceremonies at this sacred beach, sometimes numbering in the thousands with gamelon orchestras, holy relics, huge puppets/costumes, etc. It is a sight to behold. At low tide, families come to bathe and play in the tide pools, go body surfing, and simply enjoy the ocean.
Also, the black volcanic sand is said to have curative properties and people come from near and far to bury themselves in the sand. Its a beautiful, powerful and unique beach. We offer yoga classes and evening bonfires on the beach as well. Nearby beaches offer surfing from all levels (the location of the world championships of surfing, to easy beginner waves). A short 15-minute drive away is Sanur beach which is great for all types of water sports (surfing, SUP, jet ski, windsurfing, etc.).
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
      Soulful sojourns,
      Mikaku
