Our most recent Bali Photo Tour made a stop at one of Bali’s most spectacular temples, Pura Tanah Lot, for sunset. Most tourists go directly down to the temple but there are a few hidden spots where I like to take our photo tour participants. A few of them are the caves in the cliffs near the temple. Catch it at the right time of year and you might come upon thousands of bats who soar out of the mouth of their caves right as the sun goes down. Its quite a spectacular sight.
The Temple Waterfall Caves of Pura Tanah Lot
Other times of the year, fresh water careens down the cliffs forming small waterfalls. if you can fit inside one of the caves and shot through the water, it makes for some dramatic photography. we were lucky enough on this tour to catch it just right. Plus as the sun set, the bats began their nightly hunt en masse.
