Our Commitment to Sustainable Eco-Tourism

We admit to being nepotistic with this installation of The Eco-Travel Gear of the Year as it is our own product we will be discussing. But, there are many similar brands out there and we support the eco-friendly use of any of them.

This handy water bottle is a great travel item as it collapses to take up less room when not completely full. The provided carabineer allows for easy attachment to backpacks, belt loops, purses and the like. And, it is less than half the weight of regular water bottles.

Environmental benefits

But what we really like about it is its significant environmental benefits. It is reusable so individual water bottles do not need to be constantly purchased and discarded (a growing problem in Bali and around the world). Its manufacture requires much less energy to produce and distribution is also more environmentally friendly than regular water bottles or thermoses. Since it is so lightweight and ships flat, not only can more bottles be included in every truckload, the transportation uses less fuel, causes less traffic and creates a smaller carbon footprint all around.

Our bottles are completely BPA free and use FDA-approved polyethylene so they are safe as well.

When filled with liquid, the bottle stands up by itself, which is more than we can say about our model pictured to the left. The bottle can be frozen over night to supply cold refreshing water during the day. And it can even be used as an ice pack, should the unfortunate need arise.

The bad news is you cannot purchase them from us as we provide them for free to each guest of Floating Leaf. We also provide all the clean water you can drink and you can always refill your bottle from our dispensers. If you can’t make it to Bali to receive your free Floating Leaf water bottle, many manufactures make similar products and we encourage you to order some.

Speaking of free water at Floating Leaf, we are proud to say that we are 100% self sufficient with our water use. We have a well that provides high quality clean water and we have massive water reclamation systems in place. All water is treated on site for extra safety and our permaculture garden can make use of any gray water that is produced. Even our swimming pool water can be recycled to water our fruit trees, herb gardens, organic vegetables and more. We also produce zero wastewaterand any water that is cycled outside of our property is perfectly clean before it leaves our land.
