This page serves two purposes. Explaining our state of the art cleanliness protocols and why Floating Leaf is among the very safest travel choices in this new reality. You can rest assured we are doing everything we can to continue to promote your wellbeing.
First, a note on nomenclature. The name of the virus responsible for the current pandemic is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2.
The name of the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is COVID-19, which stands for “coronavirus disease 2019.” For simplicity, we will be referring to it as COVID19 moving forward.
Floating Leaf is synonymous with personalized service and attention to detail. Given current COVID19 circumstances we have elevated our already rigorous hygiene and safety protocols for our dear guests.
It is in our Balinese nature to nurture others, to ensure their wellbeing (physical, mental, and spiritual), and anticipate every need in order to go above and beyond to ensure a safe and deeply moving experience.
WHY FLOATING LEAF IS ALREADY A SAFE CHOICE
Floating Leaf is an oasis of wellbeing. Bali is an island and we are in an isolated seaside village, far from tourists, city centers, and congested areas. Floating Leaf is completely private and closed off from the public. Only staff and approved guests with reservations are allowed on the property. 24-hour security enforces this level of protection.
COVID19 has not affected our area and the village is taking precautions to ensure it stays that way. Overall Bali is considered by international experts to have done a remarkable job at containing the virus and many articles have been written about the great success we have enjoyed.
Floating Leaf’s award-winning sustainable architectural design is vastly open-air and makes excellent use of passive cooling by utilizing consistent natural ocean breezes. The property consists of only 12 guest rooms and the average occupancy is 12-18 guests at any one time.
Floating Leaf is a true wellness facility and your health and safety is our primary concern. We commonly work with medical professionals, nutritionists, and many other wellness professionals. A world-class international hospital is just minutes away if needed. With 24-hour security and drivers we can transport our guests to the hospital in less than 10 minutes if needed.
From its inception, Floating Leaf has been a leader in eco-friendly and sustainable practices. We are doing all we can to select the most effective sanitation and disinfection materials while adhering to our strict environmental and health ethos.
OUR ENHANCED CLEANLINESS PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES INCLUDE…
THROUGHOUT THE PROPERTY
- Overall number of guests are limited to small groups to ensure distancing
- Enhanced screening techniques at entrance including temperature checks and sanitization for all staff and guests every time they enter the property
- Increased frequency of deep cleaning of all high-touch surfaces and areas used by guests throughout the property.
- Sanitization stations set up throughout the property using of medical grade sanitizers and disinfectants
- Increased cleaning frequency of air filters and air-conditioner systems to ensure optimal air quality.
- Safe dining, meetings, and events with extra precautions to respect physical distancing and enhanced food safety practices.
OUR DEDICATED STAFF
- All staff members have undergone rigorous training and undertake the following safety measures
- Temperature read at start of each shift
- No handshakes or physical contact. Use of hands at heart prayer gesture instead per our Balinese custom
- High quality face masks worn
- Full face shields on top of face masks for double protection
- Washing hands at least every 30 minutes and prior to handling items including food for the guests
- Sneeze and cough into elbow, then immediate washing
- Maintain 2 meter distance whenever possible
- Any team member experiencing symptoms or temperature will stay at home with full pay.
DINING
- While our existing F&B standards already exceeded the CDC and WHO COVID19 prevention standards, we reinforced training and updated several important elements
- Kitchen staff must wear protective masks, head/hair covering
- Preference toward plated meals and less buffets.
- Occasionally meals may be served buffet style but will food will be served by staff behind the counter and serve plates while guests stand at distance.
- More than half of dining area seats have been removed to ensure proper distancing
- Meal and activity timings may be staggered if needed
YOGA HALL
- All yoga areas, mats, and props are fully cleaned and sanitized before and after classes.
- The Yoga Hall is covered but open air and equipped with fans to promote healthy airflow
- Students will not share mats or equipment and maintain the same props and mats for the duration of their stay.
- Capacity is cut by 2/3rds to ensure maximum distancing. Our massive Yoga Hall can accommodate up to 45 yogis in normal circumstances. Current classes are limited to 15 yogis.
- Yoga teachers have strict no-touch, no-contact policies. Special cases may be discussed if needed and precautions will be enforced.
- Disinfectant wipes and sprays will be freely available for our guests to clean their equipment and personal items
- Yoga equipment may be kept in guest rooms if guests so choose.

FRONT DESK AREA
- Guest and staff separated by counter
- Complimentary welcome kit with protective mask and disposable gloves
- Contactless check-in available. Guests will receive information prior to arrival.
- Hand sanitization station set up at reception and throughout facilities
THE MELATI SPA AT FLOATING LEAF
- Therapist will be masked and thoroughly wash prior to each session
- All treatment rooms are private, except for one couples massage room
- All treatment rooms have excellent ventilation and circulation with cross breezes
- Decreased frequency of appointments to ensure time for thorough spa room cleaning and disinfecting between treatments.
GUEST ROOMS
- Enhanced and updated training for staff
- Enhanced and updated checklists and supervision
- PPE worn by cleaning staff
- 24-hour minimum in-between occupancy of rooms to allow for complete disinfection, sterilization, cleaning, drying, and airing out of rooms.
- All guest rooms have excellent ventilation and cross breezes
- Extra attention to high touch areas such as remote controls, countertops, switches, knobs, locks, etc.
Every aspect of our activities, property, and staff procedures, have been honed following recommendations by international health and safety institutions to ensure guests have complete confidence and peace of mind during their stay so that they can focus on experiences that truly matter.
