TOP 10 BALI PHOTOS OF THE MONTH

Hello!

The Floating Leaf family hope you are healthy and happy. Here is a sampling of our favorite photos for the month. Enjoy!

SACRED MT AGUNG AND THE INDIAN OCEAN

Sunset over Holy Mt Agung Volcano, Bali’s most sacred site and home to Besakih, The Mother Temple as seen from the black sand beaches of Amed. A wonderful place for snorkeling and visiting the water palaces of East Bali.

a luxurious oasis of healing and wellness

A recent drone photography shoot resulted in this photo demonstrating Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat’s strategic location in a traditional seaside village. “Crafting artisanal experiences in Bali from a true oasis of wellness in paradise”

PARTAKE IN BALINESE PURIFICATION RITUALS

The sacred natural springs at Tirta Empul Temple are said to have curative properties and Balinese Hindus from across the island come to partake in purification rituals and cleansing ceremonies that date back over 1000 years to when the temple was first dedicated (926 A.D.).

The Healing Pool at Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat

A very different water ritual. The Healing Pool at Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat offers guests a tranquil and refreshing experience. The natural salt water pool is complete with an advanced chromatherapy system,  custom recliners, in-pool dining, water hammock, waterfall, ergonomic tables, lotus pedestals for yoga and meditation and more. There is nothing quite like it and we cant wait for you to luxuriate with us.

THE FABLED RICE TERRACES OF BALI

The fables rice terraces of Bali are not only visually arresting, but feed the island with the help of a masterpiece of engineering, the 2000 year old Subak. Awarded UNESCO World Heritage recognition several years ago, this complex system of water delivery ensures the Balinese can thrive, even in remote regions.

SOME OF THE BEST SCUBA AND SNORKELING IN THE WORLD

Bali’s scuba diving is among the world’s best. Indonesia offers the most underwater biodiversity on the planet. More than The Great Barrier Reef, more than anywhere. It is easily accessible and so much fun. For more on Bali’s best scuba and snorkeling areas, view this handy guide.

Downward dog at sunrise

Voted Asia’s best place for yoga, Floating Leaf’s Yoga Sanctuary affords breathtaking views of The Indian Ocean, Bali’s outer-laying islands such as Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, as well as sacred Mt. Agung. This sunrise yoga class led by Pak Mangku is one of our guests favorite.

THE TRUE BALI THAT MOST TOURISTS NEVER EXPERIENCE

This photo was taken at an all night ritual to exorcise evil spirits from a neighboring village. It was immensely powerful to witness and if I told you all that happened this night, you would think I was crazy (but I have other photos to document it). It is this type of deeply authentic culture that our guests experience. Being the only foreigners at a ritual like this, instead of one of dozens at a dance performance put on for tourists, is what our participants have come to expect and cherish.

SACRED MONKEY SANCTUARY

A favorite among our guests is The Monkey Forest in Ubud. While this is a touristy destination, our guides can take you to the seldom seen parts of this forest and explain the history, meaning and secrets of this living (and dead) sanctuary. For more on the secrets this monkey forest holds, see this Guide To Get The Most out of your Visit to the Monkey Sanctuary.

Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat and Sukawati Village, Bali

I could not resist adding one more drone shot to our collection of The Top 10 Bali Photos of the Month. Surrounded by the farm, this photo shows (from left to right-ish) the 2 spas, The Healing Pool, Floating Leaf’s Yoga Sanctuary (under the big leaf shaped roof), the 6 Pool View Rooms, the owners villa, and the 4 new Garden Rooms with the rooftop gardens on the far right.

Thank you for stopping by and we hoped you enjoyed the photographs. We would love to hear your thoughts and we always appreciate when you share our passions with your friends.
