ABOUT YOUR RETREAT LEADER
Michelle Chua, Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher & Founder of Root 2 Rise Yoga is inspired by movement from and for the soul, Michelle Chua sees yoga as the practice of union between inner and outer self, nature, divine consciousness and humanity. She is dedicated to her personal practice of living yoga to serve as truthful conduit of body and heart wisdom. As yoga instructor and retreats leader, she appreciates the opportunity to facilitate deep connection within and between individuals, tuning into their inherent nature of joy as they cross paths along their journeys.
Michelle formally began practicing yoga in 2001 during her careers as credentialed California schoolteacher and dancer. Through challenging periods in her life– yearlong recovery from a dance injury, passing of loved ones and volunteer teaching in underprivileged communities in Ghana and Costa Rica, she experienced the healing power of yoga and discovered her passion to share it. Initially certified to teach alignment-based yoga, she furthered her studies in yoga lifestyle and awareness, mindful leadership, mindfulness psychology and practice, intelligent asana sequencing, dance as healing modality, meditation, plant-based cuisine and practical spirituality. She transitioned careers and founded Root 2 Rise Yoga in 2010, offering yoga through weekly classes, community wellness events in nature, soul movement (freeform movement meditation) workshops. She has organized retreats in California and abroad, celebrating five annual yoga retreats in Costa Rica in June 2018. Infusing her love of the arts, healthy lifestyle and world cultures, each retreat and community gathering is a dynamic, grounding and uplifting adventure.

The Joy Professionals
Quick to smile and easy to laugh, the Balinese are experts at living a life of joy and fulfillment. They live in the moment, neither regretting past events nor vexing on what has yet to happen.
Perhaps nowhere else on Earth lives a better example of truly living in a joyful state than in Bali. Life here is interwoven with spirituality, delight in daily rituals and appreciation for all surrounding them.
We live, work, play and grow in harmony with our local community, the people of Sukawati village. Their support and encouragement for Floating Leaf was a driving force in our development and we involve the community in deciding exactly which philanthropic efforts will be of most help and interest to them.
